Airbnb channel manager for hostels
Airbnb sends travellers who would never open Hostelworld. HostelMate keeps its calendar in step with everywhere else you sell, so a bed sold on Airbnb comes off every other site.
What syncs between HostelMate and Airbnb
Availability
A booking, change or cancellation anywhere updates your Airbnb calendar through our channel manager, and a bed sold on Airbnb comes off every other site the same way.
Prices
Nightly prices for each dorm and private room are set in HostelMate and sent to Airbnb. Promotions you create in Airbnb are applied by Airbnb on top of them.
Minimum stays and closed dates
Set a minimum stay or close a date in HostelMate and Airbnb gets the same rule. Your cancellation policy stays in your Airbnb settings.
Reservations
New Airbnb bookings arrive in HostelMate with the guest's name, dates and room. Bookings made before you connected come in with one pull, step 3 below.
How a hostel works on Airbnb
A dorm is a shared-room listing
Airbnb was built for homes, so a dorm bed goes on as a "shared room" listing. Set each one for a single guest: if a listing takes two people, Airbnb can put both in one bed, and that's how hostels get overbooked there. Friends travelling together book a bed each.
Each listing matched to a room
When you connect, you match every Airbnb listing to the dorm or private room it sells in HostelMate, so Airbnb draws on the same count of beds as Hostelworld and Booking.com.
Turn off old iCal links
If you linked Airbnb by iCal before, remove those calendar links once the connection is live. Two syncs on one calendar fight each other.
Pricing on Airbnb
A different price for Airbnb
Set Airbnb a little above or below your base rate to allow for its service fee, without changing what you charge anywhere else.
Seasons, weekends and events
Set your base rates by season, weekend or event once in HostelMate, and Airbnb gets them along with every other channel.
Minimum stays where they matter
Ask for two nights over a festival weekend and one night the rest of the month. The rule goes to Airbnb with the price.
Setup in three steps
- 1
Connect Airbnb
Log in to the Airbnb account that owns the listings, start the connection from HostelMate's channel manager, and approve access when Airbnb asks. The account owner may need to approve it.
- 2
Match listings
Match each Airbnb listing to its dorm or private room and rate in HostelMate, then change one price and check it shows on Airbnb.
- 3
Pull existing bookings
The connection only delivers new bookings. Pull the reservations already on Airbnb into HostelMate straight away, so no bed is sold twice in the first week.
Questions about Airbnb and HostelMate
Yes. "Hostel" is one of Airbnb's property types and "shared room" is the listing type for a dorm. Set each dorm listing for one guest per booking, so a group books one bed per person.
Yes. Set Airbnb a little above or below your base rate in HostelMate and your other channels keep their own prices.
The change comes back into HostelMate and the freed bed goes back on sale on every other channel.
HostelMate sends each change as it happens. When it shows on Airbnb is up to Airbnb, so after setup, change one price and check it on your listing.
Your photos, description, cancellation policy and promotions stay in Airbnb. HostelMate sends prices, availability, minimum stays and closed dates, and receives the bookings.
It's included in both HostelMate plans: $19 a month for up to 30 beds or $45 with no bed limit, with no fee per booking from us. Airbnb's own service fee still applies to its bookings.
